Anthony Joshua Relocates to Dubai, Changes Official Residence Amid Regional Tensions

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has officially relocated from the United Kingdom to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, according to newly filed corporate documents linked to his business interests.

The British-Nigerian boxer confirmed the change of residence in filings for his companies, Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited, where he is legally required to state his country of residence.

The development comes despite heightened regional tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which have reportedly raised security concerns across parts of the Middle East, including the UAE.

Joshua, who was born in Watford to Nigerian parents, rose to global fame after winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics. He has since built a multi-million-pound business empire alongside his boxing career.

Dubai has long been a regular training and leisure destination for the boxing star, who has used the city’s world-class facilities for camps and promotional activities. One of his most notable appearances there came in 2017 when he held a sparring session on the helipad of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel.

Financially, the move could also offer tax advantages, as the UAE does not impose personal income tax. Joshua previously declared dividend payments of over £10 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023 from his business ventures.

The relocation follows a difficult period for the boxer after a road accident in Nigeria last year that claimed the lives of two of his close associates, personal trainer Kevin “Latz” Ayodele and therapist Sina Ghami.

Joshua has since been undergoing rehabilitation and recently shared updates on his recovery, stating that the experience had made him realise his inner strength.

His relocation places him among several high-profile British business and sports figures who have moved their base overseas, including Rio Ferdinand and businessman Jim Ratcliffe.
